The existing Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) is an essential road linking Northeast New Territories with Kowloon and Tsuen Wan.
The current study is to investigate into the technical feasibility of the proposed road widening works, which is a section of about 1.1km of Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section), between Fo Tan Road and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road from dual 2 lanes to dual 3 lanes carriageway, including the environmental impact, traffic impact and the preliminary road layout design to cope with the anticipated traffic demand. At the same time, the installation of noise mitigation measures is proposed to minimize the traffic noise impact to the nearby residents.
